Alumni Scholarships


Students who have already graduated from Camden Hills Regional High School or Camden-Rockport High School are eligible to apply for the scholarships listed below.

Many of these scholarships are from outside organizations that use their own scholarship application and have their own requirements and deadlines.  Links to organization websites and scholarship applications will be listed as available.  Please read the directions carefully.  Applicants are responsible for submitting complete applications and supporting materials themselves.

ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIPS FROM LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS

A listing of scholarships available to alumni of Camden Hills Regional High School.  The listed scholarships have their own applications, deadlines and directions for submission.  Please read the directions carefully.  Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting the appropriate materials to the scholarship committees.  Please pay attention to the deadlines listed on the scholarship applications.  Please do NOT use the CHRHS Alumni Application for these scholarships!

Barbara Thorndike Wiggin Memorial Scholarship
This grant is awarded to a female resident of Knox County who is entering either the field of teaching or a medical related field.

Camden Garden Club Scholarship
This scholarship is available to residents of any of the five towns or Islesboro; majoring in the fields of conservation, environmental science, horticulture, landscape architecture, forestry, botany, crop and soil science, agricultural engineering, environmental and/or conservation issues of geology or other earth science, conservation law enforcement (game warden).  During the college year that the grant is made, the recipient must have at least 4 credit hours in the subject matter supported by the scholarship.

The Camden Lions Club Scholarship
This scholarship is available to  members of the senior class as well as Alumni of CHRHS (or C-RHS). Students must be enrolled in a two-year or four-year program.  Also considered are financial need and community service. Please note: the Camden Lions Club encourages applications from students attending Trade Schools on an equal basis as those attending colleges and universities.

Douglas Thom Memorial Fund

This scholarship is available to Camden residents only.  Financial need and the ability to complete goals will be considered when selecting recipients.

The Horch Roofing Scholarship
This scholarship is open to graduating seniors going on to pursue a degree or certificate at a college/trade school OR current college/trade school students who are focusing on a trade-related field.  Students who wish to apply for this scholarship must be a Maine resident.

Knox County Fish & Game Association Scholarship
This scholarship is available to any CHRHS graduate continuing their education in the fields of conservation, marine sciences, biology, forest management, game warden services, etc.

Knox County Nursing Guild Scholarship
The Knox County Nurses Guild is a small group founded in September 1954 for the purpose of encouraging area graduates to enter the nursing profession.

This scholarship is open to any full-time student attending an accredited nursing program; applicants must be residents of Knox County.

Michael Libby Memorial Scholarship
The Michael Libby Memorial Scholarship was established to grant financial assistance to selected graduates and post graduates of Camden Hills Regional High School; providing opportunities for enriching, educational life experiences that contribute to the development of responsible young adults.

The MLMS was established in memory of Michael D. Libby, who lost his life as a result of a snowmobile accident in March of 2007. Michael was a 2003 graduate of Camden Hills Regional High School and Mid Coast School of Technology. He was an outgoing young man with many friends, and he proudly participated in the CHRHS wrestling program. As a result of the support Michael received from mentors at both CHRHS and MCST, he went on to attend the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, North Carolina.

The Michael Libby Memorial Scholarship is open to graduates and post graduates of Camden Hills Regional High School who have been accepted to or are currently enrolled in a continuing education program, university, vocational or technical school.  Special consideration is given to those who also attended Mid-Coast School of Technology and plan to pursue a career in technical fields such as automotive technology or auto collision repair; who participated in Special Education programs; or who participated in a high school wrestling program.

Mid-Coast Wrestling Club Gibby Bryant Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is open to anyone who was a member of the CHRHS Windjammer Wrestling Team.  This includes wrestlers as well as team managers.

Marion Weidman Memorial Scholarship

M. Alton French Scholarship

This renewable scholarship assists deserving young people who are residents of Lincolnville, Camden, Hope, Appleton, Rockport, Northport, and Islesboro (in that order of priority) pursuing post-secondary education at a college or university or other post-secondary course of study that is determined to be the equivalent.  The grants shall be made on the basis of financial need, record of scholarship and promise of leadership.

Olive Coates Charitable Trust Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to students entering their sophomore year in college through graduate school.  Selections are based on scholastic ability and financial need. Students may be attending any college or university, business training, mechanical or technical training.

Phyllis E. Ainsworth Scholarship

The $2,000 Phyllis E. Ainsworth scholarship is awarded to an applicant based on the following criteria:

  1. The applicant is a resident of the state of Maine.
  2. The applicant is a current full or part-time student in an ALA accredited masters or doctoral degree program in library or information science.
  3. The applicant has completed at least one course and has maintained a minimum B average.

Please observe these instructions carefully when preparing your application. Applications that omit one or more of the following will not be considered.

  1. Completed application form.
  2. A well thought out essay describing your career ambitions and their impact on libraries and library users.
  3. Official transcript (photocopies and computer printouts are not acceptable documentation; official transcripts can be obtained from your University or College registrar's office).
  4. Current resume.
  5. Three letters of recommendation including one from a current professor and/or a library colleague  (family excluded).

Penobscot Bay Medical Center Nursing Scholarship
Four single scholarships of $500 each, available to any Maine resident of Knox, Waldo or Lincoln Counties, entering or continuing a registered nursing program.

Any CHRHS graduate whose parents or grandparents graduated from the old Rockport High School (not to be confused with Camden-Rockport High School) are eligible to apply.  Please indicate the name of your relative and the year of graduation on your application.

Rockport Masonic Lodge Scholarship
This scholarship is open to any student who has shown academic achievement, participation in school activities, community service; demonstrates financial need; current senior or alumni of CHRHS.

Waldo County General Hospital Scholarship
This scholarship is open to any resident of Waldo county pursuing an education in the healthcare field.  Financial need is a consideration.

George Stewart Scholarship Fund
The George Stewart Trust Fund was established to to support residents of (in order of priority): Town of Lincolnville, Waldo County, Knox County, who are pursuing secondary education, with preference for students in the field of horticulture. If no eligible applicants in that field apply, preference may be waived. Applicants must also demonstrate financial need and a record of scholarship adequate for the educational program they have undertaken.

STATE AND REGIONAL SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Guy Gannett Scholarship
For students majoring in journalism or a field reasonably related, including forms of print, broadcast or electronic media; based on excellence in academic performance, financial need, and a demonstrated interest in a career in some form of journalism.

Maine Vietnam Veterans’ Scholarship/Lest We Forget POW/MIA/KIA Scholarship Fund  
For descendants from Maine veterans who served in the Vietnam theater (first priority) and children of veterans of the US Armed Services.  “Descendants” include natural or adopted children and their descendants.

Maine Innkeepers Association Scholarship
Open to any Maine student (any age) pursuing a career in the lodging or foodservice field or any family members of Lodging or Allied members or their employees or their families pursuing a non-hospitality career. Applicants may be graduates of accredited high schools, high school students, post secondary students, or children of employees of the Maine Innkeepers Association member properties, including allied members. Preference will be given to applicants who are employees or family members of active or allied member properties.

Maine Legislature Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Maine Legislature annually recognizes one student from each county who is currently pursuing or planning to pursue education at a two- or four-year degree-granting Maine college or technical school. Awards are given to Maine resident high school seniors or full- or part-time postsecondary students accepted to or enrolled in accredited Maine colleges for graduate or undergraduate degrees.

Maine State Golf Association Scholarship
For candidates shall have shown an active interest in Maine  golf (i.e. participating as a player, as a caddie, and/or working at a MSGA member golf shop or course

Scholarships for Military Children
Each year the program, supported through the military commissary system and administered by the Fisher House Foundation, awards hundreds of scholarships to qualified seniors planning to enroll in a four-year program of studies the following fall, or to college students already enrolled in a four-year program.

The following scholarships use the CHRHS Alumni Application and are all due in the CHRHS School Counseling Office on or before April 1.  

You will need to submit one application packet for 
each scholarship you are applying for.  

Each application packet must include the following:

√   Copy of your most recent transcript
√ One letter of recommendation from a current college advisor,       
           professor or employer.

The Amon Vaughan Memorial Scholarship
Amon was a graduate of Camden Hills Regional High School.  His passion was being a member of the Appleton Fire Department.  He wanted to expand this interest to the field of Emergency Medical Services.  Unfortunately, his life ended before he had a chance to do this.  His friends and family continue to pass on assistance in the form of this scholarship which supports a student with the same interest.

This scholarship is available to current members of the senior class as well as Alumni of Camden Hills Regional High School and Midcoast School of Technology who have been accepted to or are currently enrolled in a continuing education program, university or vocational technical school in the field of Emergency Medical Services or Firefighting Services.

The Camden High School Alumni Scholarship
This scholarship is available to current members of the senior class or any CHRHS (or Camden-Rockport High School) graduate who is a resident of any of the five towns: Camden, Rockport, Hope, Appleton or Lincolnville.  Financial need will be considered.  Please note: this scholarship must be used in the year awarded.

The Francis Perry Trust Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to CHRHS graduates who are attending vocational technical programs, students who are studying fine arts, or those who are studying nursing.  Emphasis is placed on financial need.

The Gardner Brown Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship may be awarded to a member of the senior class or Alumni of CHRHS.  Applicants must be an Appleton â€‹resident of good character, attending a two-year or four-year college.


The Howard Tribou Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to current seniors or alumni of CHRHS in good standing; you must be a resident of Camden or Rockport.

The Lincolnville Business Group Scholarship
Applicants for this scholarship must be a current senior or CHRHS graduate.  Looking for well-rounded students who have been involved in extracurricular activities as well as community service.  Lincolnville residents preferred.

The Lincolnville Community Foundation Scholarship
Applicants must be a Lincolnville resident enrolled or enrolling in a 2 or 4-year college, university or vocational technical school who shows good character, good academic achievement as well as school and community involvement.


The Rockport Garden Club Scholarship

This scholarship is available to current seniors as well as alumni of CHRHS who are local residents pursuing horticultural or environmental education.

The Timothy Crockett Memorial Golf Scholarship
Applicants for this scholarship may be current seniors or Alumni of CHRHS who are interested in golf or were members of the golf team.


The West Bay Rotary Scholarship
This scholarship is for any CHRHS graduate (current senior or Alumni) who is entering any of the following:

1)  Medicine: Fields of science that are considered acceptable  curriculum for pre-med studies  that can later lead to a Doctorate of Medicine or Dentistry,  or nursing or medical technology BS degrees.

2) Engineering:  Academically accepted fields of engineering studies leading to a BS degree.
3) Computer Science:   Academically accepted fields of study  leading to a BS degree.
4) West Bay Rotary will award  one scholarship specifically to an applicant attending a school in the Maine Community College System where major fields of study lead to a career in a vocational/technical area. 

West Bay Rotary scholarship recipients are expected to make a brief presentation to the West Bay membership, generally during the recipients' Christmas Holiday break AND West Bay scholarship recipients are required to pass a minimum of 15 credit hours and attain a 2.5 GPA or better on a 4.0 grading system.
