Graduation Week for the Class of 2025 has officially kicked off! Monday began with the Annual March Through Town followed up with a visit to the primary schools on Tuesday. 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣5️⃣❤️

Today, Camden Hills had the extraordinary privilege of welcoming Dr. Craig Venter, one of the most influential scientists of our time, for a school-wide assembly. Dr. Venter is best known for sequencing the first human genome and for pioneering synthetic biology. He also founded multiple research institutes dedicated to advancing genomic science, and has most recently focused on human longevity. Speaking directly with our students at the community assembly, Dr. Venter reflected on his most significant scientific breakthroughs, including his role in mapping the human genome. He shared stories from his ocean expeditions aboard his sailboat, where he discovered thousands of new marine species that continue to shape our understanding of life in the oceans. Dr. Venter also offered an honest take on learning and the unconventional path he took. He spoke candidly about being a disengaged student in high school and finding his purpose later through hands-on experiences and curiosity-driven exploration. He ended the assembly by handing out free, signed copies of his newest book to any interested student. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from someone whose work has redefined modern biology, and hope his visit inspired some students to think big, be risk-takers, and stay curious.
